Are you working hard but not seeing a substantial increase in your score? Thunderbird offers TOEFL preparation programs designed for students or professionals who need to prepare for or improve their current scores on the TOEFL exam, whether to enter a degree program or receive certification of your English scores for a professional career.

To further meet your needs, these programs are offered on-site at Thunderbird's Glendale, Arizona campus or delivered via a live, web-based virtual format. Students enrolling in the web-based virtual program must have a computer, web camera, and microphone.

Program Overview

Three types of TOEFL Preparation programs are available to best suit your needs:

Elite Program

Students who have taken the TOEFL test and scored a 61 iBT, 173 CAT, or 500 PBT are encouraged to enroll in Thunderbird's Elite TOEFL Preparation Program.

  • Offers one-on-one instruction with skilled professors.
  • Allows you flexibility by creating a personalized program curriculum, schedule, and program dates that best suit your needs.
  • Consists of 30 sessions of instruction, typically tailored in a four-to-six-week format.

Foundations Program

Students who have taken the TOEFL test and have a score of 71 iBT, 197 CAT, or 530 PBT or above have the option of enrolling in Thunderbird's Foundations TOEFL Preparation Program.

  • Offers one-on-one instruction with skilled professors.
  • Allows you flexibility by creating a personalized program curriculum, schedule and program dates that best suit your needs. Ideal for working professionals, and students with limited time who will be coming to Thunderbird.
  • Consists of 24 sessions of instruction, typically tailored in a two-to-three-week format.

Intensive Program

Need a quick boost in TOEFL test-taking strategies? Students who have taken the TOEFL test and have a score of 79 iBT, 213 CAT, or 550 PBT or above have the option of enrolling in Thunderbird's Intensive TOEFL Preparation Program.

  • Offers one-on-one instruction with skilled professors.
  • Allows you flexibility by creating a personalized program curriculum, schedule and program dates that best suit your needs. Ideal for working professionals, and students with limited time who are coming to Thunderbird.
  • Consists of 12 sessions of instruction, typically tailored in a two-to-three-week format.

Tuition Credit

When you take Thunderbird's TOEFL Test Preparation program, you not only get world-class instruction - but you get a sample taste of what Thunderbird is all about. Now, you have the opportunity to expand your Thunderbird education with our exclusive tuition credit.

As a valued TOEFL Test Preparation program participant, you may apply up to $5,000 of executive education registration/course fees toward tuition for any of the following degree earning programs:

This tuition credit is good for up to 18 months following your completion of the certificate program. Certain restrictions apply, and interested parties must still pay application fees and meet all admission requirements for the degree earning program of interest.
