To participate in and graduate from the full-time Post-MBA program is a three-step process: first, apply and be accepted; second, complete all course requirements; and third, demonstrate proficiency in a second language before you graduate.

Admission Standards and Program Prequisites

Admission Documents

To be considered for the Thunderbird Post-MBA degree program, you must complete and submit:

  1. An online application
  2. Three personal essays responding to application essay questions
  3. TOEFLIELTS, or PTE test scores if applicable
  4. A minimum of two evaluations completed and sent to Thunderbird through the "Personal Potential Index", preferably from a professional colleague or supervisor
  5. All official transcripts, validating completion of a four-year degree (or equivalent), and transcripts validating completion of an AACSB- or EQUIS-accredited or Thunderbird-approved MBA
  6. A current sequential resume of educational and professional accomplishments

MBA Requirements

You must have completed your MBA program and have been awarded an MBA degree in order to apply to the Thunderbird Post-MBA program (Master of Global Management degree). Your MBA program must include:

  1. Managerial Economics*
  2. Financial and Managerial Accounting
  3. Financial Management
  4. Quantitative Methods or Data Analysis
  5. Operations Management
  6. Principles of Management
  7. Marketing

*Micro- and macro-economics taken at the undergraduate level may substitute.


Language Requirement

To graduate from the program and earn your Post-MBA M-GM, you must demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in a second language. This is a graduation exit requirement.


English Language Proficiency

Thunderbird courses require that students whose native language is not English have excellent proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English. TOEFL and IELTS waivers are not granted.

Applicants whose native language is not English, and who received a qualifying degree in a country where English is not the native language, are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Pearson Test of  English (PTE) Academic exam.

Test scores are valid for two years and must be sent directly to Thunderbird.
